Who are these Courses for?

Listening skills are vital for those who come into contact with people either in a professional or personal context. They are the basis of effective communication.

These two day courses will be of benefit to anyone dealing with people who need to be heard and to those who are interested in discovering the barriers to good communication.

The courses encourage you to increase your self-awareness and understanding of how patterns of behaviour influence effective listening.

All of the courses will have a similar format. There will be some basic input on different psychological perspectives, time for self reflection and consideration of the way in which this theory informs our listening skills. Each perspective offers a different approach to understanding what it means to ‘be a person.’

At the end of each theoretical perspective there is the opportunity for another day’s course to consider how this understanding might influence the way in which we relate to God.

The courses are experiential and reflective in nature with practical input sessions. The emphasis will be on you setting the goals that you wish to achieve and on you receiving the support of trainers and peers to help you work with your personal learning edge.

You can use this training for continuing professional development or you can simply use it to increase awareness of practical listening skills that enhance good interaction. A certificate of attendance will be given at the end of the course.

This basic listening course is the gateway to further short developmental courses. It can also be a taster to the accredited COSCA Counselling Skills Course.
